Dec. 20: Keystones and No Knights

The Brenham York Rite Bodies met for their stated meeting on the third Thursday of December at Hubert Lodge in Chappell Hill.   Six were in attendance, and a stated meeting of Brenham Chapter No. 5 R.A.M. was held.

We determined that since Grand Lodge would be occurring during our next stated meeting time, that the Brenham York Rite Bodies would "go dark" on January 17.

Commandery dues for 2019 are now due.  Brenham Commandery dues are $65.00.  Please remit dues as soon as possible,

There were not enough present to perform Commandery installation and so installation of officers will be attempted on Jan. 1 by holding a called meeting during the meeting time of Ivanhoe Commandery and/or by a called meeting Jan. 2 at the stated meeting of Jerusalem Chapter and Council in Navasota.

We held meaningful conversation about our plans and objectives for the upcoming year.

York Rite for Masons, Commandery

Excerpted from Commandery Talk for Other Bodies, by Richard R. Jernigan, Knight Templar, Sep. 2018

When a man becomes a Mason a bond is created between himself and all other masons.  That bond is difficult to describe, but is readily understood by members of the Craft.  Masons have common experiences and obligations and focus upon the designs of the individual’s “Great Architect of the Universe.”

He agrees to look out for the well-being of all other Masons so far as he is able.  He promises, in his relationship with other Masons, to deal uprightly and honestly.  He commits himself, that no matter his station in life, all are created equal and he will treat all Masons fairly and upon the same playing field.

The Importance of the Royal Arch

Excerpted from The Masonic Importance of the Royal Arch by Sir Knight Nicholas Adair, August 2018 KT Magazine

If the highest degree a Mason can attain is the Master Mason degree, why do we have appendant bodies like the York Rite?

The system of Masonic degrees...is the product of an evolution. ... [there are] two distinctions between two classes of Masons dubbed 'Ancient' and 'Modern.' ...There was a unification of Ancient and Modern Lodges in 1813.  Prior to 1717, there is no record that Freemasonry consisted of more than one degree.

The operative Mason, prior to the revival of 1717, was designated as an Apprentice, Fellow Craft, or Master...because of the length of time of service and skill manifested in his handicraft.
